“Thousands spin and mix tunes, but only few create the expression, character and atmosphere that communicates the deepest understanding and passion that lies deep within the coveted depths of vinyl groove.” Keith Reilly
To all the Openers Readers,
Its been a while since my last post of which i deeply apologise for but i have hardly had a moment free in the past month as i have been travelling almost constantly since my trip to Japan a few months back which i will add was just a truly unbelievable and inspiring time – my thanks to the Openers Team for your wonderful hospitality, but also to Yoshi, Shu and Ayako, Shuya, The Womb crew and Muz and everyone else who I met and made me so welcome in Japan it was a humbling experience.
I am currently writing this entry in Shanghai and about to catch a flight to Abu Dhabi then back to London in the coming week.
I am going to start slowly introducing readers of my blog to some of my dear friends and colleagues in the music, art and creative industry
The first of which will be on DJ Kid Batchelor.
Kid Batchelor and I go back a VERY long time.
Kid has often been regarded as one of the most important players in setting the foundations for dance music culture in the UK and was a fixture at all the nights way back in London from the 80′s to name a few playing at RIP (Clink Street), Hedonism (Hanger Lane) Kid’s own party Confusion was to all that went simply a legendary experience.
We will also be presenting a two-part mix that Kid has kindly put together for the Openers Readers in the coming week or so I’m very certain you will all enjoy listening to these.
I was asked to write something a few years for a feature about Kid Batchelor and think its fitting to end with this.
